“SAHAB” is an imaginary art museum project from a “HAWAF” team that is created by visual artists and an architect. The project is to build a digital and virtual platform to create a museum that is sharing the history and future of Gaza.

 

Based on the concept of existence fulfillment, presence establishing, and archiving in a visual language, the project intends to capture the identities of places and moments throughout history.

 

It expresses a vision of the future through artistic documentation and stimulating the imagination with collection of contemporary artworks that emulate history and heritage.

 

The reason for the creation of this project is the absence of any museum institution in Gaza.

 

For many years the Gaza Strip has been under a very strict blockade which is reinforced by constant conflicts and wars that prevent it from being a safe place to build a museum with historical artifacts.

 

The idea of a virtual museum came to us as a proof of Gaza's rich history. It is based on virtual reality technology to allow all visitors, from Palestine and the entire world, to walk through it from wherever the yare.

 

The form of the museum was designed with inspiration taken from the old town. The design was also inspired by the style of building the houses of the sun in that region, as a courtyard occupies the center of these buildings.

 

We thought that the cloud would be the most appropriate place for the location of the museum. The cloudis a gateway to the outside world. Through it, the history of the past and future can be shared and preserved at the same time.

 

It is an opportunity for people in this land and a way to represent freedom and spotting light on identity, culture and art.
